Amy grew up in northern Minnesota where she worked for the school district as a caregiver for K-5th graders in the latchkey program. This experience fostered her natural ability to care for children. She went on to study Child development and elementary education at UND in Grand Forks ND, however she decided to put college on hold to marry her long time boyfriend, Waconia native, Tommy. Tommy and Amy were married in 2005 and moved to Omaha, NE. Amy worked for the internet based payment company Paypal when she and Tommy found out they were pregnant with their first child. Austin was born May 2008. After a rough first few weeks in the NICU, Tommy and Amy decided that it was best to move their new family back home to MN. In late 2008 they sold their home and moved to Waconia to be close to Tommy's family. In 2009 they purchased their current home in Montrose, MN. In May 2011 they were blessed with a second child, Jacob.
After a lot of thought and consideration, Amy and Tommy decided that it was time for Amy to take her natural ability to care for children and help the community by offering quality childcare. Amy has developed a curriculum for all ages that foster creative thinking and development. Creative Roots Childcare will officially open in October 2011.
